I know personally how challenging it can be to travel and stick to your weight loss goals. These snacks are all perfect for traveling and sticking to your weight loss goals because they’re easily transportable and So I’ve scoured the interwebs for the Best Healthy Travel Snacks For Weight Loss.
1. RXBAR’s
You might already know that I love RXBAR‘s if you saw my post RXBAR – Excellent On The Go Snack. I loved them then and I still love them now! Not only do they taste like heaven, they are a healthy protein bar with no B.S. Just take a look at the ingredients list and you’ll know that you’re eating literally the BEST protein bar on the market today. The ingredient list is short, sweet, to the point and contains all whole foods. Let the heart eyes ensue.
My favorite flavors are the Coconut Chocolate and Chocolate Sea Salt but if you’re just not quite sure which flavor to start with the Variety Packs on Amazon are a great option. They even have the seasonal flavor out right now for your holiday travels. Can you guess what it is? Pumpkin Spice of course.
The company also recently came out with RXBAR’s for the kiddos. You can’t really go wrong with the 3 flavors they have out currently — Chocolate Chip, Berry Blast and Apple Cinnamon Raisin. Your kids will be saying YUM!
I give RXBAR’s two thumbs up and say that they are probably THE best healthy travel snacks.
2. Pistachios
Pistachios are right up there at the top of my favorites list as far as nuts go, right along with pecans and macadamia nuts. #drooling I love buying them shelled because it helps me to slow down when I eat them, otherwise I might just eat the whole back. Plus it will give you something to do with your hands while you’re commuting in the Uber or sitting on the airplane.
They’re not only delicious but they are a great source of protein, healthy fatty acids, phosphorus and vitamin B6.
I love buying mine in bulk from places like Costco, Sam’s Club or even on Amazon (I found these Kirkland brand ones online). Or if you’re like me and you have zero self-control when there are nuts in front of you (yes, pun intended) then there are these awesome little Wonderful Pistachio’s brand 100 Calorie Packs.
3. World Peas Texas Barbeque
They have the words “Texas Barbeque” right there in the name… I mean need I say more? These bad boys come in 8 different flavors too: Santa Barbara Ranch, Texas Barbeque, Garlic, Garlic Tomato, Sichuan, Curry, and Nagano Hot Wasabi. Is your mouth watering yet?
This same company also offers new Fava Crisps which I haven’t had the luxury of trying but they sound absolutely delicious. They come in flavors like Vinegar & Sea Salt, Texas Barbeque, and Santa Barbara Ranch.
4. Lorissa’s Kitchen
It can be hard to find jerky that isn’t full of harmful nitrates and nitrites. Thats one of the reasons why I am obsessing over these Lorissa’s Kitchen Jerky pouches. It’s packed with 11 grams of protein per serving, gluten free, zero preservatives and no added MSG making Lorissa’s Kitchen one of the best healthy travel snacks money can buy. Woop there it is!
I’m a big ginger lover. Anything with ginger and I’m all for it. But if you’re not so much into ginger you can always try the Korean BBQ, Szechuan Peppercorn or Sweet Chili flavors instead.
5. bare Organic Coconut Chips
A little bit spicy and a little bit sweet with some crunch. Sign me up! And of course, I chose to share the Sweet Ginger version of the Bare Organic Coconut chips because you know I love all things ginger (even ginger men, no joke. One of my biggest crushes in high school was a full on ging… but I digress).
If you’ve never tried these Coconut Chips you HAVE TO TRY THEM! They will blow your mind with how decadent they are while still being fairly healthy (they do have some sugar in them but I’ll forgive them for that).
As you probably guessed, they come in a variety of flavors including plain Jane bare Natural Toasted Coconut Chips, Chocolate, Honey and last but certainly not least, Sweet & Heat.
6. EPIC All Natural Meat Bar
Who doesn’t want to eat something called a “Meat Bar” unless you’re vegan or vegetarian in which case mad props to you sista! I’m all for the best healthy travel snacks especially when they aren’t packed full of sugars. Sometimes a girl just has to have a snack that’s a little salty and savory.
This Turkey Almond Cranberry bar is literally like Thanksgiving in your mouth. With 14 grams of protein and the fact that its a low carb bar makes them perfect for anyone following an Adkins or ketogenic diet.
Do these other flavors not sound delicious (and nutritious) as well? Chicken Sriracha, Grassfed Bison Uncured Bacon & Cranberry, Chicken Sesame & BBQ, Grassfed Venison Sea Salt & Pepper, Beef Apple & Bacon and lastly, for all you bacon lovers, Bacon & Maple. Drop the MFing mic.
7. Primal Kitchen Dark Chocolate Almond Bar
I have to admit, I’m not a huge chocolate person but I know that I’m the minority in that arena so I decided I better add in some of the good stuff. I’ve heard AMAZING things about this whole Primal Kitchen line of foods which are all paleo approved.
I admire the fact that these bars are not only paleo but that they also have grass-fed collagen in them as well. If you don’t already know, I’ve been using Grass-Fed Premium Collagen Peptides for a while now. I put them in everything, coffee, smoothies, baked goods, salad dressings, condiments — literally, you can put them in anything. They have a ton of amazing health benefits like helping your hair, skin, nails, and joints.
So if you need a little chocolate on the go these Primal Kitchen Dark Chocolate Almond Bars taste amazing and they’ll help to beautify your hair, skin, and nails as well.
8. Kale Chips
Seems like a few years ago everyone was talking about kale. Probably because it’s not only a super healthy snack but it’s also versatile & freakin’ delicious! Combine the amazing crunch of kale chips along with the savory flavors of truffle and rosemary and what do you get? Organic Made in Nature Rosemary Truffle Kale Chips! (insert drooling emoji)
9. Snap Peas
This very well might be THE best healthy travel snacks of all time. Snap peas give you that crunch when you feel snacky and also have a bit of a sweet aftertaste.
10. Justin’s Hazelnut Butter
I think everyone can agree that these Justin’s Nut Butter Pouches are just about the best invention of the millennium. I mean the concept of delicious, creamy assorted nut butters in a little, easy to travel with, pouch… it’s simply perfection.
My personal favorite is the Hazelnut Butter but if you’re not a huge fan you can always try Peanut Butter Honey, Almond Butter Maple, Classic Peanut Butter or Almond Butter Vanilla.
11. Almonds
Did you know a serving size of almonds is only about 12 almonds? I dare you to only eat 12 almonds next time you get the chance.
Or you can just make it easy on yourself by getting some Blue Diamond Almond 100 Calorie Packs.
12. Lesserevil Buddha Bowl Himalayan Pink Popcorn
Remember those Pringles commercials with the jingle “Once you pop you can’t stop.” The Same rule applies to the Buddha Bowl Himalayan Pink Popcorn. It’s crunchy. It’s salty. It’s made with coconut oil & pink Himalayan salt and it’s organic. The only real problem is that you won’t want to stop eating them.
13. Protein Shake
The ultimate on the go snack for any fitness freak, the classic protein shake. I’ve personally tried just about every protein powder out there. For the most part, they are all pretty similar. I would say that the most popular brand is the Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein Powder. It comes in a large variety of flavors and as the name suggests, it’s essentially the gold standard of whey protein powders.
